Obamacare

 Frequently Asked Questions

  • The Affordable Care Act is the 2010 comprehensive health law known as “Obamacare” or, simply, the ACA.

Health insurance through an Affordable Care Act marketplace plan can help to protect you from financial pain if you have an injury or illness. ACA plans are also a safety-net option for people who do not have access to job-based insurance or government insurance such as Medicaid and Medicare.

The ACA may allow you to receive a premium tax credit, or premium subsidy, based on your household’s size and income. This will help you save on the monthly cost of your health insurance plan.

  • Some of the benefits of Obamacare include:

    1. Increased access to health insurance: The ACA requires most Americans to have health insurance and expands eligibility for Medicaid, a government-funded health insurance program for low-income individuals and families. The law also created online marketplaces where individuals and small businesses can purchase health insurance.

    2. Financial assistance: The ACA provides financial assistance in the form of subsidies to help individuals and families pay for health insurance. These subsidies are based on income and can lower the cost of insurance for many people.

    3. Consumer protections: The law offers consumer protections, such as prohibiting insurance companies from denying coverage to individuals with pre-existing conditions and allowing young adults to stay on their parents' insurance until age 26.

  • You are currently living in the United States. You are a US citizen or legal resident. You are not currently incarcerated. Your income is no more than 400% (or 500% in 2021 and 2022) of the FPL. Jan 21, 2022

  • This means an eligible single person can earn from $12,880 to $51,520 and qualify for the tax credit. A family of three would qualify with income from $21,960 to $87,840. The range would be $26,500 to $106,000 for a family of four. Jan 12, 2022

With Obamacare, you can find a plan that fits your needs and budget. You may even qualify for financial assistance to help you pay for your premiums and out-of-pocket costs.

Plus, Obamacare offers consumer protections like no denial of coverage for pre-existing conditions and preventative care at no additional cost. Enrolling is easy and our representatives are here to help you navigate the process.
